A NEW FESTIVAL SHOWCASING LATIN MUSIC, ARTS AND CULTURE

An exciting all-ages event that brings the Latin American culture to life in the City
of Toronto

The Ontario Latin Arts Festival (OLAF) is a unique one-day event that celebrates the culture of Latin America on Saturday, July 13th, 2013 at Mel Lastman Square in Toronto. This flavourful festival will showcase the finest Latin music and dance found in Canada, along with featured film, literature, traditional storytelling and educational art, music and dance workshops.

Attendees will enjoy live entertainment by top performers such as Cafe Cubano, one of Toronto's most popular salsa bands; Santerias, a modern fusion band; Mariachi Fuego Band, a refreshing and exciting twist on mariachi repertoire; Samba Toronto, a dance company with roots in Brazilian spirit and energy; Carlos Bastidas, an award-winning musician and promoter supported by his Latin Jazz band; Cabildo Dance Group, a folk dance ensemble; Chirimia Baru, a big band ensemble performing traditional music; and Ballet Folklorico Puro Mexico, who preserve the rich heritage of Mexico through dance.

There will be a showcase of Toronto’s top Latin dance schools including Dami Dance, 219 Dance, Casineros Unidos, AfroLatino Dance Company and Toronto Casino and Timba. The festival will open with an energetic Bachata flash mob by Toronto Dance Salsa. Traditional Latin food will be available from a variety of vendors. Additionally, several businesses will be on-site educating the public on the Latin culture and commerce.

When: Saturday, July 13th, 2013, from 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

The 2013 Ontario Latin Arts Festival is organized by The Hispanic Canadian Arts & Cultural Association (HCACA), a not-for-profit organization that celebrates and promotes the Hispanic heritage found in Canada. Their work includes showcasing local Hispanic Canadian musicians and artists through music concerts, art exhibits, workshops and events.
