Ron Davis (piano) & Mike Downes (double bass)

Why do jazz players continue, in 2013, to base the lion's share of their repertoire on songs composed 80 years ago? What happens to the alchemy of jazz when musicians forsake the Great American Songbook in favour of the popular songs of today? These are the questions that pianist Ron Davis and bassist Mike Downes will raise – and illustrate with stellar performances – in our inaugural Jazz en tête-à-tête, a series of rendezvous featuring some of the greatest names in Canadian jazz, who will explore the various facets of the history and artistry of jazz.

Price: $15 (students/seniors: $10, under 12, members/AFT students: free)
