The Manager, Operatrions EDDU provides support and quality execution of job requirements associated with the operations of the Enhanced Due Diligence Unit (EDDU) in Canada (which covers all Business Lines) ensuring activities and recommendations are in compliance with relevant regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Supports a customer focused culture throughout the EDDU teams to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
  • Consider opportunities for the EDDU to optimize processes to serve our clients better
  • Executes day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Banks risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Supports the Banks risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout the EDDU teams
  • Supports the alignment of EDDU operations with Enterprise-wide AML/KYC policies and is responsible for implementing operational changes to align with policy amendments, as required
  • Supports the monitoring for consistent application of EDD activities, in alignment with policy requirements and operations parameters outlined in EDDU handbook by managing the quality assurance program on behalf of the EDDU teams
  • Provide problem resolution and support to Business Lines and EDDU teams, as needed
  • Prepare management reporting such as productivity reporting and risk management reporting. Leverage reporting to rebalance workload, monitor progress and ensure SLAs are met. Provide portfolio level reporting to 1B Sustainment and 1A Business Line leadership
  • Enhance reporting as required and support ad-hoc report requests
  • Perform trending and tracking of performance metrics
  • Support projects by utilizing project methodology to ensure projects and/or policy changes are delivered as agreed including preparation or updating of process flows, updating of procedures ensuring alignment with the Anti-Money Laundering & Anti-Terrorist Financing Policy and/or Enterprise-Wide Anti-Money Laundering and Know Your Customer Operating Handbook
  • Support the review of project related documentation in support of business line sponsored projects that impact the EDDU, including but limit to; Scope and Business Requirement Documents, General and External Design documents, including participation in sprint sessions, if applicable
  • Maintenance of EDDU budgets including management of EDD spending activities, and variances to budgets with SSG Finance
  • Day to day maintenance of EDDU organization charts, complement returns, online posting of new/vacant positions, including supporting the EDDU teams with recruiting assistance they may require
  • Coordinating with SSG Recruitment, HR, Operations, and Technical Services to offboard employees leaving and onboarding of new ones ensuring employee records are processed by HR and the employee onboarding, work station, equipment, and computer equipment flows smoothly
  • Any other administrative requirements the department may have from time to time
  • The primary objective of the EDDU Operations Team is to ensure the EDDU Teams are supported so the EDDU activities can run smoothly in support of Business Line partners and Bank clients

Education/Experience/Other Information:

  • Strong knowledge of the Banks Regulatory and Compliance requirements as they relate to customer onboarding and product maintenance
  • Excellent knowledge of the systems and applications that support the Units processes i.e. EDDU Case Management (DDCMT), WorldCheck, Fortent, etc.
  • Experience in Risk Management in banking or Financial Services Industry
  • Knowledge of Canadian AML/KYC regulations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good knowledge of the Scotiabank Group products, operating procedures and delivery systems
  • Strong analytical skills to make rational and logical deductions, at times with limited information
  • Ability to gather, analyze, organize, document and present large volumes of information in a succinct and organized manner, including identification of trends and system changes / issues and bringing these to the attention of the Director Operations EDDU
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills for preparation of reporting for Senior Management review,
  • University Degree or higher
