Transaction Processing Services team is a host/mainframe department that is using Scrum and Kanban agile framework to complete all development. The aim is to complete projects in a timely manner and produce minimal viable products to meet customer requests and just in time development. We are looking to build our host development team with influencers, makers, creators, and industry leaders who will drive our visions forward and enhance the experience of our business partners and customers.

Key Accountabilities

1. Work with peers and customers to prepare solution designs and estimates deliverables according to Scotiabanks internal policies, standards and templates based on business, project and systems specifications
2. Produce and maintain architectural and design documentation
3. May require to develop proof of concept (POC) and demos to internal customers or Product Owners during solution design phase
4. Advise, when needed, developers on the team on Host and Midteir platform
5. May require to manage critical, high impact projects from end to end
6. Work with stakeholders to develop and maintain TDS mainframe roadmaps
7. Experience with SOL, MOBILE, PRM processing
8. Knowledge on electronic banking and access control Debit processing


1. 8:10 years architecture experience in creating and managing enterprise architectures and solutions
2. 10+ years with host/mainframe development experience (COBOL, JCL, SAS, CICS)
3. Have work experience with Interactive program development tool (RDz experience preferred)
4. Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, and is capable of multi:tasking and managing concurrent tasks and initiatives
5. Must be reliable, pro:active, results:oriented, customer:focused, attentive to details and a team player
6. Strong interpersonal skills and can build and foster relationships with team members and peers
7. Experience in the financial industry with some host development experience, nice to have
8. Innovative approaches to developing process improvements and solutions; ability to convey and promote these ideas
9. Working experience with systems development methodologies and software development technologies, concepts and lifecycle
10. Worked in Agile lab or used Agile framework, nice to have


Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science or technical equivalent
