Purpose:

Scotiabank is seeking a Business Analyst to assist in defining the operational and finance requirements related to the EUs MiFID II regulatory directive. This directive comes into effect in January 2018. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing the operational and financial requirements for client enrollment and entitlement, document management, payment processing, billing & invoicing, accounts receivable and financial and client reporting related to Research Unbundling under MiFID II. The Business Analyst will play a key role in developing the capability to provide the back office functions of Research being delivered to MiFID II in-scope clients. This position is for a 6- to 8-month contract and is based in Toronto.

Key Accountabilties:

Lead and manage requirements gathering and analysis activities by working with other business line representatives
Liaise with business partners to ensure back office solutions meet business and regulatory needs
Establish and implement process flows required to support back office functions of Research as an independently chargeable service to MiFID II in scope clients
Mapping out requirements for client enrollment and entitlement, document management, payment processing, billing & invoicing, accounts receivable and financial and client reporting
Map requirements for system integration, if required
Respond to queries from management, research, salespeople and other stakeholders regarding back office functions being established
Conduct analysis, generate and modify financial, management or client reports to meet business and regulatory needs

Skills:

A minimum of five years of experience in the capital markets as well as an understanding of buy-side and sell-side clients would be an asset
Experience with payment processing, billing/invoicing/accounts receivable, financial reporting and management information systems is required
Experience implementing a financial/operational system to support a new product/service would be an asset
Project management and/or regulatory compliance implementation experience an asset
Well-developed analytical and research skills with an ability to deconstruct complex issues and recommend solutions
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, working knowledge of Salesforce, Broadridge and PeopleSoft systems would an asset
An ability to operate under stressful conditions while meeting time-sensitive deadlines and dealing with competing priorities
Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of subject matter experts at various levels within the organization
Strong communication and presentation skills required
Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner

Education:

A degree in business, operations or a related field
